Adult Programs

  • Resume Class 
    • Presented quarterly.
    • Section 1: Resumes -- how to organize, write, and submit them.
    • Section 2: Cover letters and resolving cover letter / resume challenges and the interview process.
    • Taught by Linda Ferguson.
    • Registration limited to 25 people for each section.
    • Class is offered at no charge.
    • A list of  online and community resources will be provided.
    • Please register at the Information Desk in the Library.
  • Book Clubs
The Library supports two book clubs that meet monthly.  The General Book Club meets on the first Thursday at 6:30 PM; the Mystery Book Club meets on the third Wednesday at 6:30 PM.  See Book Clubs for more information about the clubs.
  • Grandparents Raising Grandchildren
This program has apparently been canceled due to budget cuts.

Join our discussion group for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren with Blenda Glenn,  coordinator of the
Grandparent Raising Grandchildren of the City of Dallas. Please call ahead if you are bringing children or require Spanish assistance. For questions, call Belinda Glenn at 214-243-2049.  
  • AARP Driver Safety Course
         Four-hour safe driving course will be held on a date to be determined from 12:30 to 4:30. 
         $12 charge  for AARP members and $14 for non-members. Course certificate valid for insurance
         discount but not for any driving infraction citations. Register with a librarian at 214-670-1350.
  • Autism Society (ASA) Board Games
Sponsored by the Dallas Chapter's Self Advocacy Group, the free game sessions are held from 2:00  p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a date to be determined of every other month. Suggested ages for participants 7th grade and up for the people with Aspergers or high functioning autism and their friends. Due to room size, limited to the first 16 participants. Family members are welcomed and encouraged to sit in and play if limit is not met.  Games will be family appropriate board games-Apples, Password, Dominoes,  Scrabble or other games as determined by participants.
